Of Sea Monkees and Pirates

Hear Ye! This is a tale of swashbuckling and daring do-ings, guaranteed to have you on the edge of your seat - or not depending on how much you let your imagination run away with you.

I expect you've been told that there are all kinds of people in this world - well, did you know there are all kinds of monkees too?

This story begins with a monkee named Syd.

Now it's not that Syd was a bad monkee, or even a naughty monkee really -- Syd was more of a mischievous monkee and after all isn't that what monkees are supposed to be?

Let me start at the beginning. . .

Syd was feeling a little bored with his life at the Toronoto Zoo and he decided he'd like an adventure.

He thought for a while and he hatched a plan.

A few weeks ago he had been a little bit naughty and snatched the hat from a lady who was walking by his enclosure, it was black and white like a Zebra and he rather liked it! He'd been saving it for just such a plan as this.

With the hat perched on his head he dug around in his monkee stash - you know - a stash that's full of things that passersby have dropped or left behind - things that people don't really want any more at all - aha! Lying between the half eaten candy bar and the book about bananas was a little camera! Syd posed in his best monkee pose and took a picture of himself, he'd heard about some monkees far to the East in a Village called Merrickville he thought to himself that even though they didn't know it yet, they were going to help him escape!

Far to the East in the little Village of Merrickville live the Merrickville Monkees - they have rather a nice life living on the banks of the Rideau Canal. On a particularly nice warm spring day Mylo Monkee set off to the Post Office to see if the model ship he'd ordered had arrived yet. To his disappointment there were no parcels waiting for him, but there was one rather tatty looking envelope.

Mylo took the envelope and looked at it carefully to see who had sent him something - it had obviously been used more than once because the original name and address had be scratched out and Mylo's address had been written instead. The stamp looked very shabby and when he looked closer he realised that, it wasn't really a stamp but a bubblegum wrapper that had been cut square and stuck there!

Opening the envelope Mylo peered inside. His eyes came to rest upon a piece of paper with a photo and a short message.

"Being held prisoner in Toronoto Jail - I'm innocent! Please help! I didn't do the crime - I shouldn't do the time!"

Mylo was quite shocked to say the least! He took the photo and message an immediately went to find the other Monkees.

. . . to be continued. . .

Merrickville Monkees take to the High Seas!  It all begins very innocently with a mischieveous monkee named Sid.
